The Parish

Right on the edge of the Cotswolds, Leafield is only 18 miles north-west of Oxford, and five miles from Chalbury railway station. With 330 households, and a total population of just over 800, Leafield is both remote, up on the windy highground between Witney and Charlbury; and connected, with easy access to both Oxford and London.

Until the 1850’s Leafield was surrounded by the ancient royal forest of Wychwood. The village centres on the Green, with the picturesque school in the middle. The tall spire of St Michael and All Angels’ Church, designed in 1859 by Sir George Gilbert Scott, is a distinctive feature on the horizon for many miles around.
