July update from Leafield Parish Council Meeting

Play Areas re-opening

The play areas are now re-open as from Friday 10th July!  We completed a risk assessment using the post-Covid government guidance and this was reviewed and approved at the Council meeting.  It is not going to be possible to carry out regular cleaning of the equipment but signage will be in place to advise of other control measures to ensure safe use of the equipment.  Please act responsibly to avoid the possibility of transmission of the virus as we won’t be able to continually monitor use.

We will continue to carry out safety checks to ensure the equipment is maintained for your use.

A summary of the information on site is as follows:

  • Observe the 2 metre social distancing rule with one family per group of equipment. One adult per family group is recommended.
  • If the play area is busy please return later and limit your time on the equipment to give others a chance
  • Users are advised to wipe down the equipment prior to use and bring your own hand sanitiser for use before and after play
  • Don’t visit the play areas if you feel unwell
  • No food or drink to be consumed in the play area and any litter to be placed into the bins or taken home
  • The upper level of the Toddler Multi Play will be taped off as this has some undercover areas

New Junior Goalposts for the playing fields

We would like to thank the Gym Committee for their gift of junior goalposts to be installed in the near future.  This was following a request by residents for the additional facility for younger players.

Burial Ground Project gets underway

We are pleased to announce that our contractors will be starting work on site week commencing 20th July in order to complete the construction phase on the area adjacent to the existing Churchyard.  Please be aware that large vehicles will be accessing the site and the Village Hall car park from access points in Lower End.

Over the next few months we will be working towards opening up the burial facilities and hope to have this up and running by October.

Churchyard Closure now imminent

It has now been confirmed that the Churchyard will be closed for new burials and the maintenance handed over to the Parish Council from the PCC towards the end of September.  A reminder that we are starting a volunteer working group to help with the maintenance of this much-valued part of the village.  Please contact Councillor Richard Hamilton on Richard.hamilton@leafieldparishcouncil.org if you are interested in helping.

Village Hall Car Park Tenders

Tenders have been received from groundworks contractors but unfortunately the costs quoted were not in line with our proposed budgets.  We are planning to discuss possible next steps with our design consultant with a view to re-tendering with an amended tender specification.

Thames Water problems

The on-going problems with poor water supply in the village were discussed and it was thought that many residents have contacted Thames Water to raise complaints.  If you have raised a complaint we would like to log this so we are aware of the extent of the problems in the village.  Please email the Clerk with your Issue Number by visiting the Contact page.
