Message from Deborah – Leader of Leafield’s Pop Up Choir
As a Tribute to the NHS, care home workers, carers, other key workers, and to lift the spirits of older and vulnerable members of Leafield, we hope all villagers will sing ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ from their doorstep! As well as clapping. (see words below)
Do you play an instrument?
If so, can you help and play for us (In the key of G)? We need you to play your instrument (trumpet, guitar, ukulele, violin, etc.) to encourage the singing. Here is a website with the music to help us sing from the same page! (mainly wind instruments and one with guitar chords): https://www.hornsofplenty.co.uk/event/may-morning-4/.
Any questions, or if you want to know who else may be playing in your part of the village email Deborah at: dtriff@btinternet.com
If you have elderly neighbours who are not online, and so may not hear about this, please give them a ring to let them know. Currently, Thursday looks like a nice evening, so hopefully this will give everyone something to enjoy and look forward to. The Evergreens choir love to sing, so with your help, I hope we can make this happen.
Here are the words:
Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There’s a land that I heard of, once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true
Someday I’ll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that’s where you’ll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly
birds fly over the rainbow why then oh why can’t I? ….
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow why, oh why, can’t I?
