Updates from West Oxfordshire District Council

Customer Services

Customer contact is now back to normal levels and Customer Service advisers are assisting with Covid community support tasks (making welfare calls to vulnerable residents) in addition to their normal duties.

Public Access

Our receptions/front desks remain closed, until further notice. We have procedures in place to assist any emergency cases but are guiding all other customers to our website and telephone lines whilst Coronavirus demands we protect our staff.

Disposal of PPE

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has asked for help reminding the public to dispose of PPE items safely. They have produced a key messages document available at the link https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WKDyE2ERmv-XEhLK3DGsF-Jldbkhvt7d/view  which encourages people to put used gloves and face masks into ‘black bag’ waste at home or at work, or in a litter bin. Gloves and masks should not be placed in recycling bins as they cannot be recycled through conventional facilities.

Waste

As of Wednesday 20 May, bulky waste collections continue, having been reinstated a few weeks ago, and all other services were running as normal. The Bank Holiday collection arrangements are that services will not operate on Bank Holiday Monday (25 May) and all collections will be a day later than usual, meaning that collections will be completed on Saturday 30 May.

Community support/resilience hub

As previously advised, the contact number for vulnerable residents needing support is 01993 861077 and this will be open throughout the bank holiday weekend (9 am to 5 pm each day). They also are available via email – community.support@westoxon.gov.uk .

Have your say on the Council’s Climate Change Strategy

West Oxfordshire District Council is committed to tackling climate change and now it wants to hear from you.
We want everyone – residents, community groups and businesses and more to come together and tell us how we can all make a difference to our environment today and in the future.

A special survey has been published asking for your views on actions we can take in our Climate Change Strategy.

For more information on the steps we are taking in West Oxfordshire and to access the survey, see: www.westoxon.gov.uk/environment/climate-action

The consultation is open until 16 June.
