Parish Council Updates for April

Parish Council Meetings

The Parish Council has had to adapt to new ways of working during the current period of self-isolation and, following changes to legislation, were able to hold their first meeting via video conferencing on Wednesday 8th April.  This proved a success with the District and County Councillors both attending to provide their usual updates.

It is anticipated that May meetings will also be conducted via video conference – the Ordinary Parish Council Meeting on Wednesday 13th May and the Annual Meeting on Wednesday 20th May.  Confirmation of this will be on the Agenda and members of the public are welcome to attend by emailing the Clerk for log-in details.  Unfortunately it will not be possible to hold this year’s Annual Parish Meeting scheduled for 29th April as this meeting requires many participants, so would not be suitable for video conferencing.

Grass Cutting

The Council is keen to ensure that the Village Greens and public opens spaces continue to be maintained in order for them to be enjoyed by residents for daily exercise and dog walking.  Therefore a one-off cut was completed this week with contractors McCrackens practising social distances control measures.  McCrackens were also awarded the grass cutting tender for 2020 at last week’s meeting.

Play Areas

In line with government instructions the Village Hall play areas have been temporarily closed to help slow the spread of Covid-19.  The areas are not fully fenced so it has not been possible to completely stop public access but hazard tape and signage are in place.  Please respect the current restrictions and do not use the play equipment.

When using the village outdoor spaces please observe social distancing by keeping at least 2m/6 foot away from other people. Please keep dogs on a lead to avoid unnecessary contact with other space users.  Please also wash your hands before leaving home and as soon as you return from being outside.

Village Volunteer Group – help for Vulnerable or Self Isolating Residents during Covid-19

The Council recently dropped a flier to all households to advise about a volunteer group that has been set up by villagers and parish council members.  We would like to thank the coordinator of the group Christina as well as Stacey, her team, and everyone in the village who has given up their time to help deliver shopping, prescriptions etc. If you would like help or wish to join the group please contact Christina Wilson by phone on 07387 267714 or email CPJW74@icloud.com
